Gemcitabine injection is used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, urinary bladder cancer, and ovarian cancer. Gemcitabine is used to treat people who have locally advanced breast cancer such as also known as regional recurrence breast cancer that has come back and spread to the tissues and lymph nodes around the chest, neck and under the breastbone when surgery is not possible. Secondary (metastatic) breast cancer breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, hair loss and low blood platelets. This medicine may reduce the number of blood cells (decrease red blood and white blood cells) in your blood, thereby, increasing the susceptibility to infections.
