Atracurium medication is a neuromuscular- blocking agent, used as an adjuvant in anesthesia. This drug provides relaxation of skeletal muscles during surgery procedures. The drug atracurium besylate can be used most advantageously if muscle twitch response to peripheral nerve stimulation is monitored. It is also indicated to facilitate mechanical ventilation in intensive care unit (icu) patients. The most common side effects of this medicine include skin flush, skin redness, and itching. It may also cause pain, redness, and swelling at the site of injection. Atracurium besylate injection should be refrigerated at 2 deg to 8 degc (36 degto 46 degf) to preserve potency. Do not freeze.
