Darunavir is used in the treatment of HIVinfection. Darunavir is in a class of medications called protease inhibitors. Darunavir is an anti-HIVmedication. It works by interfering with an enzyme protease, which is required by HIV-infected cells to make new viruses. This stops the production of new viruses. It works by decreasing the amount of HIVin the blood. Although darunavir does not cure HIV, it may decrease your chance of developing acquired immunodeficiency syndrome aids and HIV-related illnesses such as serious infections or cancer. The most common side effects of this medicine include headache, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation, red, swollen, itchy, muscle or joint aches, fever, swelling, tenderness, redness, or other signs of infection, nausea, extreme tiredness, loss of appetite.
